Interpreting graphs and diagrams means understanding information shown in pictures. Graphs and diagrams help us understand data quickly and easily, without having to read long sentences.
Diagram 1: Bar Graph – Number of Students in Each Class

A bar graph is used to compare quantities. For example, the bar graph above shows the number of students in different classes. From the graph, we can see that Class X has the highest number of students, while Class VI has fewer students. This helps us compare classes easily.
Diagram 2: Line Graph – Sales from January to June

A line graph shows change over time. The line graph above shows sales from January to June. The line goes upward, which means sales increase every month. This graph helps us understand trends like an increase or a decrease.
Diagram 3: Pie Chart – Family Monthly Expenses

A pie chart shows how a whole is divided into parts. The pie chart above shows how a family spends its monthly income. Food takes the largest share, while transport takes the smallest share. This helps us understand how money is spent.
To interpret any graph or diagram, we should first read the title to know what it is about. We must look at the labels and check the scale used. We should find the highest and lowest values and see whether the data increases, decreases, or stays the same. Finally, we should compare the different parts and explain the information using short, simple sentences.
