Understanding the structural elements of an essay is essential for purposeful writing.
An essay has three major components.
Introduction: The first paragraph of the essay forms the introduction. It usually takes about three to six sentences to introduce the topic.
Body: It is the main content of the essay, usually about three to four paragraphs in length. Each paragraph elaborates on a unique aspect of the theme that has been developed.
Conclusion: It is the final paragraph of the essay, usually four to six sentences in length, restating the argument and summarising the main ideas presented.
